Dato’ John graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Second Class Upper Honours) from the University of Malaya in 1991 and was called to the Malaysian Bar on 21st February 1992.
In early years of practice, Dato’ John was actively involved in all types of dispute resolutions.
Dato’ John has also conducted Trials and Hearings in the Magistrates Court, Sessions Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and the Federal Court.
Dato’ John actively gives talks to Clients on Court proceedings and new matters/law besides giving Advice/Consultancy related to day to day legal issues requested by Clients. Dato’ John has given talks on various areas of law to Organisations such as the Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM), Association of Hire Purchase Companies of Malaysia (AHPCM) and Asset Financing and Leasing Association of Malaysia (AFLAM).
Dato’ John was invited by the Association of Hire Purchase Company in Malaysia to be the advising Solicitor for an exercise to amend the Hire Purchase Act 1967 of which advice was accepted and passed by Parliament on 15.04.2005 to include inter alia term changes at a variable rate and to allow for alteration of the Hire Purchase Agreement via a Supplemental Agreement.
